It’s hard to believe it’s only May – we are already in the midst of constant 80 plus degree weather every day. It’s only going to get worse and more tedious as summer arrives. My plan for the summer is to make our backyard our own little oasis. It’s simply not realistic for me to load up the kids to head to the pool or beach with a 3 year old and 18 month old. Our backyard got a whole lot more appeal for the whole family with the arrival of the Jurassic Chomp Pool by Banzai!

Jurassic Chomp Pool

Go on a Jurassic adventure right in your own backyard! Slide into the primeval world and try to escape the T-Rex’s non stop sprinkler attack. Look out for the erupting volcano that provides refreshing water sprays to keep you cool and the fun going all day long.

  • Chomping action dinosaur sprinkler
  • Erupting volcano
  • Durable PVC construction
  • Connects to any garden hose
  • 72 inches long by 52 inches wide by 45 inches tall

Not Your Average Backyard Pool

When I was growing up we had one of those old school hard round pools, and it was great, but let me tell you that feels very old fashioned and boring compared to the Jurassic Chomp Pool. The day the pool arrived, I was eager to blow the sucker up and fill it for some fun. The first challenge? Blowing up the pool. And, that is no easy task without an air pump. Banzai sells some air pumps separately and I definitely recommend one for blowing up this pool. It has several different fill points and because of the design it works much better when completely filled. I had a hard time getting the dinosaur to stay upright because I can’t (er, am not patient enough) to fill it with enough air.

The pool consists of a few different parts – the actual pool, a volcano which shoots water and a dinosaur whose head waves back and forth spraying water. The pool itself is a really good size for our family. The kids and I can easily sit in the pool together and play so there’s plenty of room for several (4?) toddlers and a couple older kids. The volcano and dinosaur work when you hook up your hose to the pool It’s very simple to attach and when you turn on the water the action really starts! The volcano is great – it sprays lots of water up into the air in a nice light spray that is perfect for the kids. The dinosaur is a little more intense because the water comes out of the mouth as his head waves back and forth. My daughter (who is not afraid of anything) loved the dinosaur, while my son was not a fan. For that reason, my only real improvement on the pool would be the ability to pick and choose between the two sprinkler options so we could use the volcano and not the dinosaur or the dinosaur and not the volcano.

Overall, the pool is a fab addition to our very hot backyard. We hit the Jurassic period (in the form of our pool) nearly every day. It’s recommended for children 2 and older. Older kids will love the spraying and sprinkler action while younger kids (and adults) will enjoy lounging in the good sized pool. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to Mom’s Day Out this summer so I can rest my head on the pillow/slide thing and relax by myself.

Lots of Summer Fun

Banzai, a division of ToyQuest, has a huge selection of toys and water toys that are perfect for summer. Between the water slides, sprinklers and baby pools, there’s definitely something for every age.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy… The Jurassic Chomp pool is pure fun. It’s a great size for your backyard because it doesn’t take too much space but provides plenty of room for cooling off. The volcano and the dinosaur add the excitement of sprinklers to the pool experience.

Or Not to Buy… Blowing this sucker up without a pump is no fun, so I definitely recommend getting one. I really wish the pool had the option of using only one of the sprinklers at a time as both can be a little overwhelming for younger kids.
