I don’t have any particular resolutions for the new year, but I do have a list of goals and things I hope to achieve. Near the top of that list: more sleep. Even though we’re beyond the newborn frequent waking stage, I honestly can’t remember the last time I soundly slept through the night.

That was great sleep said no parent ever

Cloud b is the world’s leading manufacturer of products and accessories designed to help children sleep. To put that another way, Cloud b is the leading manufacturer of products designed to help parents get more sleep!

Cloud b recently partnered with The Sleep Lady® Kim West to offer some helpful bedtime routine tips and also introduced the award-winning Twilight Turtle Tunes to comfort kids to sleep. We’re excited to share the tips and a closer look at the Twilight Turtle Tunes. Here’s to more sleep, mamas!

Tips & Healthy Solutions for a Calming Bedtime Routine

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Ms. West has been a practicing child and family therapist for twenty years.  She has helped tens of thousands of tired parents all over the world learn to create and preserve healthy sleep habits.

  • Keep to your child’s regular bedtime as much as possible.  A later night here and there isn’t as problematic as multiple late nights especially if combined with skipped naps.
  • Be flexible with a nap schedule. If traveling in a car or running errands for a few hours, it may be possible for a baby in an infant seat to sleep right through the trip. Try to get back home to have an early bedtime.  Remember, a well-rested child is better behaved and more adaptable to changes.
  • Incorporate comfort items into the sleep routine. When traveling with your child, bring comfort items to keep things consistent. Always bring along the lovey and pack a night-light.

Twilight Turtle Tunes

We have always been a “comfort item” family as a technique to help soothe our children to sleep. Each has a special soft blanket – and all three (even the 7 year old) still sleep with every night. Wherever we go, the blankets go. When Max was born, we added a new comfort item to our traveling circus. He hated being in the car and had a hard time calming down no matter what we tried until we introduced the Cloud b Gentle Giraffe On the Go. The Giraffe is with Max every night and goes with us on all of our travels.

Given our experience, it’s obvious I’m a fan of Cloud b products. I was excited to try new Twilight Turtle Tunes, though I did wonder if the Bluetooth technology was really necessary. Was it just for show, or a truly helpful addition to the extensive collection of sleep aid products for kids? Short answer: it’s pretty darn cool and the wireless technology is smart and convenient.

Twilight Turtle Tunes Details

Twilight Turtle Tunes is the first Cloud b character to feature wireless Bluetooth technology! Utilizing a new free Cloud b app, parents can choose from a pre-set library of melodies and sounds that can be combined to create a customized mix to play wirelessly via Twilight Turtle Tunes’ speaker. A premium app is also available which allows users to access their personal music libraries to create totally unique mixes. By utilizing Bluetooth, the melody and twilight effect can be programmed for up to 24 hours.

Twilight Turtle Tunes Review

The Twlight Turtle Tunes is a multi-sensory sleep aid using both noise and light to comfort your child. The turtle’s back projects actual star constellations into the room, providing a subtle night light in amber, green or blue. The amount of light is similar to a night light, but the moving stars and moon shapes provide a nice distraction for children who may be afraid of the dark. I’m not going to lie: I space out a little bit when I sit and watch the stars while nursing Max. (Of course, this could be from that pesky lack of good sleep!)

The innovative use of Bluetooth technology allows you to control the start, timer, and even which music your child hears all using a free Cloud b app. Set up is easy: after downloading the app, you turn on the Turtle and the iPhone detects the Cloud b network. From there, the phone pairs with the Turtle and you can choose and program the mix to play.

Occasionally, my phone wouldn’t pair with the Turtle. I had to “forget the device” and reconnect to get it to work again.

The free app allows you to create a custom mix of soothing background noises – a wide range of tunes from melodies, soothing sounds and water collection. We’ve been using a version of the Windy Lullaby with Babbling Brook added in.

cloub b Twilight Turtle Tunes appAnother bonus to the app? I can play the sleepy music mix through the Bluetooth in my car, too. This is a great feature if your baby is fussy in the car like Max was. Of course, it also provides continuity when you want to soothe baby to sleep in the car.

The Twilight Turtle Tunes is a great tool to incorporate into the sleep and bedtime routine for babies and kids. In fact, my two older kids (7 and 5) often ask for the Turtle in their room. If you need help calming a child a bedtime, you may also be as impressed with the T3 as we are.
