As a member of the JOHNSON’S Baby CARES Council I was given the opportunity to host a Care Cards Party. After the success of the brand’s Care Cards program that resulted in a $150,000 donation to Save the Children, we had the chance to take the campaign local and create Care Cards and Baby Care Kits for a charity in the area.
The goal of the Care Cards Party is to “get together with friends and family, write messages of reassurance to moms in need, and send JOHNSON’S® Baby Care Kits” to a local charity. With this in mind, I had no doubt I wanted to partner with a local organization that works tirelessly to support moms. Mom2Mom is a group that provides breastfeeding support through peer mentors and weekly gatherings. As a peer mentor, I get matched with expecting and new moms who would like a designated friend to reach out to for any issues related to breastfeeding. It’s been so rewarding!
Earlier this month, at the first Mom2Mom “Breastfeeding Cafe” of the year Catherine and I set up all the supplies provided by JOHNSON’s Baby to create Care Cards. With scrapbook materials, we made cards with personal notes of support to new moms. The overarching theme: You are a great mom!
After creating the cards, we put them in the Care Kit box with a package of JOHNSON’S Baby products. The Take Along Pack includes baby shampoo, head-to-toe wash, baby lotion, baby powder and Desitin diaper ointment.
We are so excited to provide the Care Kits to the base hospital to gift to new moms as they head home with their new babies. We truly hope that a new mom who is second-guessing her choices, tired and intimidated will find reassurance and comfort in a handwritten note offering support. I know from first hand experience that it can be particularly daunting to bring home your first child in a foreign country so every little bit of comfort and support helps. We know she will appreciate the supply of baby care items.
Thanks to JOHNSON’S Baby for providing materials for the Baby Care Kit. I am a member of the JOHNSON’S Baby Care Council, but this post was not compensated.
