Whether you breast or bottle feed, late night feedings are a fact of life with a new baby in the house. And, if you’re in my house, they’re a fact of life, like, years. *yawn* Our friends at Chicco wanted to know more about what really happens during those late night feedings so they surveyed new moms and dates to get the scoop.

2014 Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey Results

44% of parents say they think their partner has faked sleep to avoid a late night feeding. Turns out they aren’t that far off! 38% of dads and 28% of moms admit to pretending to sleep to avoid a feeding.Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey Faking Sleep

I am not surprised by the fact that 91% of moms think they take on the majority of late night feedings. I am definitely part of that 91 percent!Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey Results Queen of the Night

There’s not much to do in the middle of the night when you’re trying to keep the house quiet and dark to encourage baby to go back to sleep. Not surprisingly many parents turn to the internet for entertainment – and company. Do you visit Facebook in the middle of the night?Chicco Late Night Feeding Visit Facebook

While I don’t like being awakened from my beloved sleep or losing precious hours of shut eye, I admit that the late night feedings can do the heart some good. The majority of parents agree there’s something special about the the midnight bonding going on.

Chicco Late Night Feeding Survey Worth the Sacrifice

Chicco Natural Fit Bottles

Chicco has launched a new system to simplify middle of the night bottle feedings. The NaturalFit Bottle system has three stages designed to reflect the stages of feeding development. Each has a distinct nipple shape best suited to your baby’s natural suck-swallow abilities.

Chicco Natural Fit Bottle Stytem

  • Stage 1: 0 – 4 months. Angled nipple with wider, rounded base.
  • Stage 2: 4+ months. Straight nipple with rounded base.
  • Stage 3: 6+ months. Elongated nipple with less rounded base.

All stages have a soft, breast-like tissue to ease the transition between bottle and breast.

I agree with the survey. I do all of the night feedings, but I don’t mind, we are back to sleep shortly after and the time really is short lived.

all of it is true except the faking part for me because i EBF only when i work we use the bottles and now with the new baby on the way i would love to have this!! i agree facebook is the most checked site!

  3. 3.

All true in my house, I do breastfeed so Dad really can’t do too much, but sometimes it would be nice!!

  4. 4.

Fairly true here. I did breastfeed all 4 of our babies, and I did not pump much, so he really could not do the late night feedings, though. My husband was/is very good about getting up during the night when needed. I am very lucky to have such a helpful guy.

I take on a majority of the late night feedings and it is totally worth the sacrifice! Hubby would help (and does anytime I need him to) but I love those quiet moments, just me and baby, while everyone else is asleep.

  6. 6.

I did a lot of the night feedings so the a lot of this is true

    Funny 🙂
I do most of the night wake-ups, but I do try to remember to enjoy that time alone with baby although sometimes it’s hard to do!

I agree with the survey, except the faking of the sleep – I do it all because I EBF. My son will not use a bottle.

  10. 10.

I agree. I check my email while they feed at night

  17. 17.

Breast feeding is the healthiest for little one, I am going to try and pump as much as possible in between like I did with my other 1 so dad can be a part as well!

The survey sounds pretty true to what happens in our home

  23. 23.

100% of night feeds are me!

  24. 24.
    Amy W

The survey sounds about right. I’m sure the dad’s are guilty of pretending to sleep through it : ) But, with breastfeeding, I was pretty much the only one who could handle the needs with my son. This time might be different!

I am expecting my first child in 8 weeks, so I can’t relate just yet. From what I hear from friends, it sounds accurate to me!…I will find out soon enough! haha
