Friday Food: Snacks for Summer

Favorite Snacks

With some travel and camp on the agenda, we are always looking for the best (and healthiest) snack options for the kids. Fruit and vegetables are always on the top of our list, but we also love having the option for portable packaged snacks. Here is a list of some of our current favorites:

Green Plate Foods: During a recent trip my whole family loved the selection of snacks from Green Plate Foods. Created by Lisa Pounds, a Houston mom and entrepreneur who is passionate about offering clean, healthy and nutrient-rich meals and treats that fully deliver on taste. This includes a line of delicious favorites like the Nubblers, a bite-sized and gluten-free fruit snack that is made with 5 nutrient-rich, raw and all natural ingredients. Full of flavor and rich in texture, they are also free of any refined sugars, sodium, artificial flavorings and preservatives and satisfy your sugar cravings. Our personal favorite is the Blueberry Pistachio Nubbler.

18 Rabbits: We love this line of granola cereals and bars made with the purest ingredients available – perfect for kids out of school and on the go! From summer camp to bike rides in the park and beyond – nothing is more important than staying fueled this summer! 18 Rabbits makes it possible for kids to enjoy pure, simple, real food that’s good for them, tastes good and keeps them going. 18 Rabbits Jr. bars are perfect to stick in your kid’s camp lunch bag or to take on vacation for a healthy convenient snack that will keep the hunger away. They are portioned to fit smaller appetites but also pack the same big flavor – plus the chewy texture makes them easy for kids to eat. This includes healthy indulgences that come four varieties such as Mango Strawberry, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Cherry and Cranberry Apricot.

Lucy’s Snack ‘N Go Cookies: Each pack of Lucy’s Snack ‘N Go feature three gluten-free and allergy friendly cookies. Available in both Chocolate Chip and Combo (which includes Chocolate Chip, Maple Bliss and Chocolate Cookies), these cookies are made without wheat, dairy milk, butter, eggs, casein, peanuts, or other tree nuts, which makes them safe for any classroom or cafeteria!

Rhythm Superfoods Superfood ChipsAvailable in flavors kids will love – especially Nacho, Barbeque and Sea Salt – these chips are made with ancient grains (such as pea protein, amaranth and oat bran), non-GMO ingredients and are gluten-free, kosher certified and low-calorie… the perfect healthy alternative to potato chips.

GoPicnic Ready-to-Eat MealsMake packing lunch easier by choosing GoPicnic! These ready-to-eat meal kits are under 500 calories and no refrigeration or preparation is required! Some lunchtime-friendly options could include Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese, Turkey Stick & Crunch, or Almond Butter & Crackers.

Funley’s Super CrackersCrackers with hidden veggies ingredients that both parents and kids will love! Made with 100% natural and real ingredients, including nutrition-rich vegetables like broccoli, carrots and sweet potatoes.
