Style Watch: Winter White for the Holidays

By Lauren Barth |

Wearing Holiday Winter White

What’s the saying?  No white after Labor Day?  While I can’t say I’m one to completely follow that rule, for those that like to reserve their crisp whites for the summer, it’s time for you to make proper use of your “Winter White” pieces.  If you’re looking for some easy, holiday styled inspiration, consider starting with Winter White and building your outfit from there!

What is “Winter White” anyway?  Well, for me, it’s somewhere in between bright white and and ivory.  It’s really a cream color, or a soft white that is more often worn in the fall and winter.  I love pairing winter white with fun holiday colors like a rich cranberry red or even an emerald green because it’s just so festive!

And, just for comparisons sake, the idea of pairing a bright, optic white with a true red or bright green is very much a summery combination, which is why I love having the winter white option during the holidays.  See the difference?  Even with all the rules, it seems like the different shades of white are still being reserved for different times of the year.

Today, I went with the simple black and winter white skirt, with just a pop of red in my nail polish.  It’s very much a fool proof outfit that everyone call pull of and because it’s such a classic combination, you’re going to look back in a few years and still love this outfit.

For the past year or so, I’ve very much gravitated towards the ease of a small, crossbody bag.  Especially with a chain link strap, these bags are versatile in that they can be worn simply on your shoulder or more securely across your body without looking sloppy or becoming too heavy.  It’s really the best accessory I have anymore!  This spotted black and winter white pattern was just a little too perfect for today’s outfit and while it doesn’t give much variety as far as color is concerned, it does match flawlessly and that I couldn’t deny.

I hope everyone is ready for the holiday’s to begin next week!  It’s about to become a sleigh ride into the busy month of December and while I’m not even close to being prepared, I can’t wait for the fun and chaos of it all to start!  I simply love everything about this time of year.
