Kids are naturally curious so why not engage their curiosity and encourage them to be involved in the kitchen.
We know that putting a meal on the table for a family can be challenging and the last thing you want to do is take the time to have your kids help out in the kitchen. But, for kids it doesn’t even have to be a big thing. They don’t have to help put together the family meal to be involved in the kitchen. Even simple tasks like helping prepare food for meals (washing, chopping and peeling) can be exciting for kids.
We love having our kids help in the kitchen. Even our 2 year old loves getting to help us whenever he can.
We use the opportunity of having our kids help in the kitchen to get them involved with making healthy choices and trying new foods. We recently got them cooking Hulk Waffles with us, which included adding spinach to our waffle recipe and thus adding more spinach into their diets.
With winter in full swing and the flu on the rise we’ve been trying to get more vitamin C into our kids. When I saw blood oranges in the store I knew it would be a fun activity to let the kids squeeze their own orange juice. The blood oranges were more interesting, with their red centers, than regular oranges, and of course they taste different which encourages trying new foods.
Kids are so short and counters are so tall, we often use a stool (and sometimes even a chair) to get them up high enough so that they can reach the food. That was until Little Partners and their Learning Tower totally changed our kids in the kitchen dynamic.
The Learning Tower is the only step stool on the market carefully designed to meet the needs of younger toddlers, 18 months and older. The Learning Tower helps nurture a child’s blossoming independence, while providing a secure environment for them to create, learn, and play along with the rest of the family. It’s made from the highest quality layered birch and comes in a variety of colors.
The Learning Tower sits flush against the counter and has 4 side railings to provide support when climbing in the tower as well as keeps them safe from falling off the tower once inside.
The Learning Tower has sturdy feet with non slip padding as well as 4 adjustable heights and can support up to 250 pounds! As your child grows you can lower to internal platform so that helping in the kitchen, playroom or wherever can always be comfortable for your child.
Cooking with kids allows kids and parents a chance to connect on a different level. It promotes teamwork within the family dynamics. The Learning Tower helps your kids learn life skills in the kitchen right along side you.
