teacher dayMy son hated school up until midway through the “threes” program. But then, suddenly, it was like a light bulb went on in his little head and he instantly became excited about learning and playing and going to see his teacher. Seemingly out of the blue, preschool became something he loved, rather than dreaded. I have to say, I mainly credit Ms. Nancy with this attitude change. She’s been nothing short of kind, encouraging, enthusiastic, and warm. She reassured me that he’d come around in his own time. And, you know what? She was right!

Teacher’s Appreciation Week has come, and I want to show my kid’s teaches how much I value their time, effort, and energy. Now, I have to admit: I’m usually the mom who buys her kid’s teacher a Dunkin Donuts gift card. If I’m feelin’ really fancy, I spring for Starbucks and a store-bought card. (I know, I know. Lame!) But I’m trying to broaden my horizons this year with some homemade (albeit easy!) DIY crafts that express our true gratitude. Nothing says “thank you” like a kiddie-created card and a quasi-successful Pinterest project! I’ve rounded up a few super-cute and fairly simply ideas you can create with the kids today–in case you, too, are operating at the last second, but still want to show a special teacher how much you care.
